We throw open the doors for another year of the VAD festival, our seventh, with the exhibition dates extended to ten days in order to allow a more relaxed viewing of the more than 45 interesting works that make up the main content of the festival. The selected works will compete for various prizes with a total awarding of more than € 7,000. Casa de Cultura and the Bòlit's Sala de la Rambla display the works selected by the festival's selection committee from the submissions we received in response to a call for entries to artists from around the world under this year's motto, Imagine an (Im)Possible Future. Along with the works selected for the 2009 festival, we’ve gone back and searched the VAD archive for works that positioned themselves in this sense in past VAD festivals and that we think are worth recovering, so they can be discovered or looked at in a new light by visitors to the festival. The show Contra.Natura of the company Sr.Serrano, programmed in collaboration with Temporada Alta; VAD breakfasts, a meeting point between artists who present works at the festival and Girona's artistic community; a guided tour of the Mal Pelo exhibition Refugi; a presentation of the work by Marc Vives and Víctor Pérez Ballesteros co-produced by the festival MAPA and the Centre Cultural La Mercè; a visual set at the recently opened bar-restaurant Palau de la Mercè and the VAD 09 awards ceremony are the activities that we have programmed during the weekend of the festival.
